Joshua is 1 month old today!  He is growing so much now & looks around a lot more often.  When he’s not sleeping or crying, he is lots of fun to just watch & play with.  He wins at staring contests all the time & has been described as an “old soul” because of his serious, intent expressions.  Josh smiles a lot now but refuses to smile in photos so we can’t prove it to anyone quite yet (he’s very smart & either won’t smile if a camera is in sight or at least before the button is pressed to take the photo!).  It’s exciting to see him lift & hold up his head so much but hard to watch the subsequent head-butt when he can’t grasp the technique of slowly lowering it quite yet.  Josh enjoyed his first USC football game last weekend (he’s still working on how to do the victory sign with his fingers).  Like a good future Trojan, he was decked out in a cute cardinal & gold jumpsuit.  We had a little party to celebrate Joshua turning 1 month old, complete with a yummy homemade chocolate cake by Erick’s mom.

Joshua has finally met his first of 3 grandpas (my dad), but he doesn’t seem to know what to make of his beard since he’s never seen—or felt—one before.  Dad will be here for the next 2 weeks, which we are very happy about.  Erick’s mom left today & we were sad to see her go back home to California.  Both grandmas have been an incredible help over the past month, both in taking care of Josh & with our continued house projects (as well as cooking our favorite meals!).
