Birthday beans

Most people have cake to celebrate their birthday—I chose green beans.  This morning, we fed Joshua green beans for the first time!  He made a yucky-looking face but would then open his mouth for more.  I guess that means he’s not opposed to trying them again, which is great because Mommy plans to keep feeding him beans all week.  Josh ate beans & cereal this morning & even more cereal tonight before going to bed.  I’m an overeager first-time mom & decided to try my hand at making Joshua’s baby food at home (at least for now).  We spent last night steaming, blending, & straining the beans.  Joshua didn’t like the blender part but seemed interested in the straining process.  He kept wanting to see what I was doing, so I held him in the Baby Bjorn carrier & he was happy to watch everything.

Erick & Joshua took me to Annapolis today for a nice visit.  We ate crabcakes (yummy!) & then it started to snow so we headed home before the weather got worse.  I look forward to going back for a longer visit when the weather isn’t so ridiculously cold & we can spend more time outdoors looking around.  My favorite birthday present I’ve ever received was a nice card from Joshua which Daddy helped him with.  I cried when I read it.  Even though it was pretty much a relaxing & uneventful day (other than Joshua’s bean introduction), it was the best birthday I’ve ever had. :-)
