It’s that time again!
Published by Mom August 3rd, 2007 in NewsToday marks the 3-month countdown for the DC Heart Walk. Since we did so well raising money last year with such short notice, I decided to create a team & start earlier this year. For those of you here in DC, we’d love for you to join “Joshua’s Heart Walkers” & help us raise money for the American Heart Association. For those who can’t walk with us, we ask for a donation in Joshua’s honor. Please forward this e-mail to your friends, family, & anyone else you can think of so that we can reach our team goal of raising $5,000! I know it’s a high goal, but I am optimistic that we can reach it with your help.
To join our team, just go to ou team page at http://heartwalk.kintera.org/dc/joshua & click on ‘join our team.’ To donate, go to our personal page at http://heartwalk.kintera.org/dc/heygoods & it’ll walk you through what to do. You can also mail me a check if you prefer (payable to American Heart Association–Washington, DC).
Joshua’s first birthday is on the 7th, & he had a less than 10% chance of surviving this long without his open-heart surgery when he was born. This surgery was developed because of research funded in part by the American Heart Association. Even though he is strong & healthy now, he will always have to be followed by a cardiologist to ensure his heart stays healthy. The more physicians & researchers are able to learn, the better care he will be able to get in the future. That’s why the AHA has become so close to our hearts (pardon the pun).
Thank you for reading this & thanks in advance for your help. I am only sending this because we need as much help as we can to reach our goal. If you would like any additional information, please e-mail or call me, or you can visit the websites above to learn more about the Heart Walk. Joshua sends a big, slobbery kiss to all of you!
