Joshua is the official man of the house since Erick’s gone.  I don’t know if he quite realizes that Erick’s gone most of the time since it’s usually just the 2 of us at home anyhow, but he does get excited when we talk to Daddy on the phone.  He gets a cute smile & tries to take the phone from my hands (or the hadsfree device from my ear).  Unfortunately, he’s often successful which means we hang up on Erick & have to call him back.  Silly kid…

Yesterday, we had a playdate with some friends & Joshua watched Maximilian playing with his toy phone.  Maximilian would hold it up to his ears & ‘talk.’  After just watching him do that a few times, Josh started doing the same with his own toy phone.  Now he won’t stop!  He doesn’t quite get it & he’ll hold the phone behind his ear at the back of his neck but he has so much fun that it’s hard to correct him.  Since he doesn’t usually see Erick & I hold phones to our ears because we use headsets, this is quite impressive that he understands this after just watching it for a few minutes with a little friend.  Sometimes, Joshua will hold the phone up & babble away as he walks around the living room.

 Tomorrow, my dad will get here for a 2-week visit.  We’re excited to see Grandpa!
