Grandpa cruises into town
Published by Mom April 25th, 2008 in NewsWe had a great day with my dad a couple of days ago. He was able to arrange a Hawaiian cruise since we were going to be there. We met up at the port in the morning & then went for a beach drive around the southern part of Oahu before heading up to the Dole Plantation. When Erick got off work, he joined us for a visit & then we all went to dinner at Sam Choy’s Breakfast, Lunch, Crab. Apparently, Tuesdays are “keiki night” so there was a clown & games for the kiddos. Josh even sat still long enough to get his caracature drawn! It was neat to see Dad in Hawaii—the last time we were here together was 18 years ago. Boy, a lot’s happened in that time!
Today, Joshua & I went to the Honolulu Zoo & then walked a mile down the street to the International Marketplace. It turns out that the last time we walked down Waikiki, we stopped 1 block short of the marketplace, which I’d wanted to see. I resisted temptation & didn’t buy anything. Josh had a great time at the zoo, especially watching the turtles. They had a cool play area that was lots of fun for Joshua but lots of work for me to keep up with him. After a nice, long nap, we went to the Tripler pool. While Erick did laps, Joshua & I played at the wading pool. I met a woman whose husband is an intern there & she gave me the heads-up on living there, in case we end up going there for Erick’s residency. Tomorrow, we’re going to the beach—our first time as a family!
